Cathy Pearce Painting my world

Associate Artist for Unison Colour

I am a landscape painter with a specific interest in pastel, although I do enjoy painting still life and using mixed media as well. I am also an Associate Artist for Unison Colour. Unison Colour make the extraordinary pastels, with which I paint every day, so I am thrilled to be able to work with them more closely, promoting their Handmade Soft Pastels.

Studio and Workshop Space

If you would like to see my paintings in person, I hold several exhibitions and open studios throughout the year at various locations. This includes my own Elm Studio at Mind Tree Café Furlong Close Rowde SN10 2TQ near Devizes Wiltshire, which from 21st August will be open every Thursday 9.30am to 4.00pm.

I am also an exhibiting member of Marlborough Open Studios MOS, which usually takes place every year, each weekend in July. During MOS you can view my work and my husband Nick Pearce's ceramics in my own small Poppins Gallery at home.

When I have an exhibition and during MOS, details can be found on my Events page.

I also have a wonderful workshop space at Mind Tree Cafe Furlong Close Rowde SN10 2TQ near Devizes Wiltshire. You can see the latest details on the workshops I run throughout the year on my Workshops page.

I have been painting and drawing ever since being a toddler, always making things and being creative generally. I graduated from Central St Martins College of Arts and Design with a BA (Hons) in Printed and Constructed Textile Design.

I now live on the edge of Roundway Down, with my potter husband Nick Pearce.

I love to paint the landscape on my doorstep, particularly Roundway Down and still life. As I walk through the fields around Roundway, I might do some sketching and take lots of photos, which I will use later in my studio, to produce a finished piece of work. I also love to paint en plein air, working on small pieces, or preparing for my workshops. I also venture further afield to see and paint the bigger picture, the bigger views of Wiltshire too.

Earlier this year I was delighted to have been given the 2025 Artist Magazine Award. View on the Mall Galleries website along with the other award winners.

Then for the second year running I took part in Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year in Keswick.

I absolutely loved the experience of taking part and I really enjoyed painting all day en plein air in the beautiful surroundings of the Lake District.

Such an experience to paint with people of all abilities, some professionals, some amateurs and some art students and to spend the whole day with the film crew and judges mingling with all the artists, filming and discussing.

The series is due to air in early 2026 on Sky Arts, but more than that I cannot reveal. Not even the painting! But watch this space and I will add more details when I can.
