Workshops August to November
3 New Workshops Added
Glass, Monet and van Gogh
Representing glass in pastel is one of the most difficult surface textures to master. Come and learn how to capture the mystery on 14th August!
I am also holding two more Landscape Artist Workshops. Claude Monet on 25th October and Vincent van Gogh on 1st November, looking at each artist's unique way of observing and interpreting the landscape.
I will be running my Pastel Techniques course in September, which is equally suitable as a refresher for an artist who hasn't touched their pastels for a long time or has always wanted to have a go at painting with pastels, as it is for an absolute beginner.
I have several En Plein Air Landscape sessions planned throughout August and a 6 week Landscape Project course for September to October.
Then there is my Colour Theory course for absolute beginners to experienced artists, running from September to October. A great opportunity to gain, or renew your knowledge, experience and confidence in using colour and knowing its construction.
You will find details of the topics, dates and costs, as I add them on my Workshops page. If you want to know more before then, or to book please call me on 07731 476760.
Competing Artist
At Landscape Artist of the Year 2026
Mid-June saw me in the Lake District taking part in Heat 4 of Series 11 of Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year in Keswick.
It was a long hot day, but I had the best time and one which I shall never forget. The judges were all really kind and so supportive, as were the amazing crew, who made us all feel so nurtured in the process.
I absolutely loved the experience of taking part and I really enjoyed painting all day en plein air in the beautiful surroundings of the Lake District.
Such an experience to paint with people of all abilities, some professionals, some amateurs and some art students and to spend the whole day with the film crew and judges mingling with all the artists, filming and discussing.
I got so much from the day in terms of enjoyment and a great confidence boost, which I hope will encourage more of you artists out there to go for it!
The series is due to air in early 2026 on Sky Arts, but more than that I cannot reveal. Not even the painting! But watch this space and I will add more details when I can.

Re-rolling Soft Pastels
I love the fact that there is no wastage with soft pastels, once too small to hold they can be ground down and re-used.
Have a look at my Unison Colour Soft Pastels page to see how you can make the most of your favourite pastels.
